LAND LORD TENANT LAW- TO RETURN OR NOT RETURN THE SECURITY DEPOSIT!

When a tenant vacates a rental unit at the end of the lease agreement, the landlord must abide by certain time restrictions as follows:

(1)    The landlord has 15 days to return the security deposit and any interest, if applicable, provided the landlord does not intend to make a claim on the security deposit.

(2)    The landlord has 30 days to notify the tenant if the landlord intends to imposes a claim on the deposit. The notification must be in writing and strictly comply with Florida Statutes 83.49(3) (a).
